Efficient Transportation

Air Transport

One can reach Serbia by air using one of the two available international airports in Serbia-Belgrade Airport and Nis International Airport.

One can travel from Belgrade to almost every destination in the world either directly or with a layover. Jat Airways, as a national air carrier, carries out schedule and charter flights for passengers, cargo, and mail on domestic and international lines. In addition, most of foreign airline companies serve scheduled flights to Belgrade. The following air companies fly to and from Belgrade: Aeroflot, Aerosvit, Air Srpska, Alitalia, Austrian Airlines (through alliance partners), Air France, American Airlines (through alliance partners), British Airways, Czech Airlines, Jat Airways (Serbian air company), Lufthansa, Montavia, Montenegro Airlines, Olympic Airlines, SAS, Swiss International Airlines, Tunis Air, United Airlines (through alliance partners), and Uzbekistan Airways.

Belgrade Airport is located only 18 km away from downtown Belgrade. By taking a highway, it will take no longer than 20 minutes to reach the airport. The road network connects the airport with major international roads E-75 and E-70 (Zagreb, Nis, Novi Sad, Subotica, etc.).

Air traffic to Nis is less frequent, yet still provides a good international connection to the city. At present, one can fly to Nis by Jat Airways from Zurich every day except on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Currently, six companies are providing air taxi services, and two of them organize charter flights to various destinations.

Road Transport

Within a city, one can commute using public transportation, taxi or rent-a-car.

The cost of taxi services varies from one city to another. In Belgrade, the start costs around €0.75, while the price per kilometer is €0.5. Taxi costs in other major cities are significantly lower.

The cost of renting a car is similar to that in other countries and depends on the type of a car, together with duration of a renting period.

When traveling cross-country by a car, one should have in mind the prices of fuel and tolls. Fuel prices are at the level of those in the neighboring countries, ranging between €0.8 and €1. For a car with foreign registration plates, the tolls are slightly higher than for one with Serbian plates.

For parking in downtown Belgrade, one can use a designated area or parking lots. A street parking spot can be used only up to 3 hours on working days and Saturdays, while on Sundays it is free. As for the parking lots, the fee is around €0.4 per hour.
