Investing in Serbia

Greek businessmen wishing to invest in Serbia can receive a direct cash grant, covering part of the expense for their investment project. Their investments should materialize through legal entities - companies of any kind, according to Serbian law and should comprise of projects for manufacturing-processing activities and agricultural enterprises of greenhouse type and bio farming, enterprises of livestock breeding (stables or semi-stables type) and fishery enterprises (aquaculture) using modern technology. The general objectives of eligible investment projects should be one or more of the following:

  • Establishment of new or renewal of old production facilities (buildings),
  • Acquisition of new production equipment,
  • New production automation and support equipment,
  • Acquisition of transport vehicles (only those that are used inside the production facilities),
  • Establishment of new facilities for logistics purposes,
  • Acquisition of animal reproduction and multiplicative material (in the case of greenhouse enterprises.

Total investment budget should range:

  • Between €800,000 and €5,000,000 , for projects for manufacturing-processing activities, and
  • Between €300,000 and €1,500,000 for agricultural enterprises.

 

Direct cash grant can rise up to 30 % of the total budget of the project and is committed only once, after the project's completion and full operational status. The potential investor should submit a detailed business plan to the Ministry of National Economy, which evaluates the plan and decides whether to provide financial assistance to the project or not. If the project is approved, the investor has to complete it in a maximum timeframe of 3 years upon acceptance decision by the Hellenic Ministry of National Economy and Finance.
