Božić i Sinovi - Gowigroup

The BIS Gowigroup software development team started in 2000 and has built a growing international client base through its pragmatic development approach and strong customer focus. It has been founded as a joint venture of companies Bozic i Sinovi, from Serbia, and Gowigroup Ltd, from England, whose development team based in Pancevo has been offering their services to the UK market for more than 5 years.

The team is comprised of 32 young (under 30) highly professional and skilled IT experts recruited from the most respected Universities in Serbia, namely: ETF - School of Electrical Engineering and FON - Faculty of Organizational Sciences.

By working closely with their clients and providing thorough business analysis they are ensuring that the project, once delivered, is of high quality and fully meets customer's needs. They are building strong relationships with customers based on trust, shared values, integrity and collaboration. As a result of this approach, as well as the support of the British Embassy in Belgrade, they have developed a partnership with a UK-based company Gowigroup Ltd. and signed a long term annual contract worth £500,000.

As a Microsoft Certified Partner they are developing the projects based on Microsoft platform.

The team has extensive experience in implementing a broad range of solutions across many vertical markets (insurance, real estate, education, PR, HR, IT, and others). They have built a number of long term relationships with foreign partners and are always open to developing new ones.

In order to minimize risk, ensure predictable results and deliver high-quality software on time they apply the Rational Unified Process in their project development practice. By applying this project management approach and through the partnership with Gowigroup, they have won a number of significant customers, such as: AVAYA, Shell UK, Hutchinson 3G, Cunard, and Publicis UK.

"What we found in Serbia is a highly educated and highly motivated workforce with a very strong work ethic. They are always willing to go the extra mile. Our customers like dealing with our Bozic i Sinovi (BIS) offshore team and the openness to input is compatible with our business expectations in the UK. They have consistently delivered high quality products on time and within a budget through a very strong analysis and development process. We can send our people into very complex discussions directly with our customers and allow them to do all necessary specification analysis work. This is a significant advantage over some outsourcing experiences I have had while working in the Far East. The BIS team has not only met but exceeded our standards and we plan to expand our work with them in the future. We are currently working with BIS to introduce new products and services into the Serbian market".

Red Hat

Regional Center for Support, Research and Development (RCSRD) in Vršac

In February 2007, Red Hat, the world's leading provider of open source solutions, has opened the Regional Center for Support, Research and Development (RCSRD) in Vrsac, Serbia in collaboration with IBM and VDEL, a leading IT services distribution company in Eastern Europe. The center will provide support, development and educational services to customers, partners and developers throughout South Eastern Europe.

As part of the Red Hat Premium Support Partner program, the RCSRD will service Red Hat customers in Serbia and throughout the region that includes Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro, Macedonia, Albania, Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, and Slovakia. RCSRD will be managed by the sole Red Hat Premium Support Partner in the world, VDEL.

The center is a result of a project initiated in 2005 by the University of Belgrade to create an incubator for new technologies. The project was established as part of the development program, created by the Ministry of Science and Environmental Protection in Serbia. The first incubation project was started in February 2006, when IBM, Red Hat and VDEL jointly opened the Linux Innovation and Education Centre at the Faculty of Organizational Science, University of Belgrade. This initial project provided the education, training and certification on Red Hat and IBM technologies that provided the necessary skills for the opening of the RCSRD.

IBM will provide RCSRD with access to its technologies and knowledge-base, enabling the RCSRD to eventually offer support for IBM open source solutions. This will be the result of the next incubation project which the Faculty of Organizational Science is due to start in March 2007, which will also be supported by IBM and Red Hat. This third project will create additional support services for RCSRD that will be offered throughout the region.

Red Hat and IBM will also promote the Secure Government initiative following the announcement that IBM and Red Hat are the sole holders of the security certificate that satisfies Common Criteria 4+ as per US, NATO and Russian authorities.

The RCSRD is also backed by the city of Vrsac, which has provided the necessary infrastructure and facilities. The decision to select Vrsac was based on the city's competitive advantages which include: geographical location, multiethnic and multicultural environment, existing infrastructure, qualified resources, and the growth potential of the Serbian market and the surrounding region. By supporting the opening of the RCRSD, all parties are determined to support Serbia and the wider region in the adoption of Open Source technologies in the broadest manner through the following activities: stimulating the development and implementation of Open Source software in Serbia; stimulating the development of educational programs in scientific and educational institution through latest innovations in IT industry; providing help in bridging the digital gap through the development program of digital literacy in schools and communities with lower income levels.
